Motivational interviewing (MI) is a form of collaborative conversation for strengthening a person’s own motivation and commitment to change. It is a person-centered, evidence-based practice. Practitioners can create a culture of acceptance and compassion for clients, in which clients can work toward a goal by drawing on their own motivations in atmosphere of compassion and acceptance.
